Amaroo School and the ACT Government are trialling an additional school crossing supervisor to help keep its students safe.

The introduction of the school’s second crossing supervisor follows community concerns raised about dangers posed by busy nearby roads.

Helen and Toni are Amaroo School’s ‘high-vis heroes’ and can be found on the job outside the school, managing the flow of pedestrians and traffic.

The two school crossing supervisors have asked the community to help make sure everyone gets to their destination safely.

“Since implementing the two crossing supervisors, this crossing is certainly safer,” Helen said.

“It’s now up to motorists to help make this the safest crossing possible,”

“Our advice for motorists is to slow down and be aware - particularly during the morning and afternoon when students are coming and going.”

If you’re driving, riding, or walking past, be sure to give these high-vis heroes a smile and a wave.
