Work continues to improve traffic flow between Belconnen and Gungahlin with the duplication of Gundaroo Drive.

Once complete, Gundaroo Drive will be duplicated from the intersection of Mirrabei Drive and Anthony Rolfe Avenue through to Ginninderra Drive.

This project has been delivered in three stages:

  1. Mirrabei Drive/Anthony Rolfe Avenue to Gungahlin Drive – completed late 2018.
  2. Gungahlin Drive to the Barton Highway – completed mid-2020.
  3. The Barton Highway to Ginninderra Drive – ongoing (started early 2021).

In addition to the duplication, other key features of stage three include:

  • 6.4 kilometres of new on-road cycle lanes;
  • new traffic lights at Dumas Street and Owen Dixon Drive intersections;
  • a reduced speed limit between Ginninderra Drive and the Barton Highway;
  • new, wider underpass structures featuring lighting and connecting paths; and
  • new and upgraded bus stops.

Vehicles are now travelling on all four lanes from the Barton Highway towards Chuculba Crescent, and new westbound lanes are being constructed between Ginninderra Drive and Chuculba Crescent.

This project, due for completion in late 2023, is jointly funded by the ACT and Australian Governments.
