Work has started to improve safety and travel times on the Monaro Highway.

Utilities are being relocated ahead of major works on the new Lanyon Drive Interchange starting in 2023.

The works include:

• a southbound flyover on the Monaro Highway over Lanyon Drive;
• removal of traffic lights at the Alexander Maconochie Centre intersection (David Warren Road);
• roundabout at the intersection of the new Monaro Highway southbound off-ramp and David Warren Road extension;
• Lanyon Drive and Sheppard Street intersection upgrades.

The project also includes design work for two new interchanges at Isabella Drive and Hume (Mugga Lane, Tralee Street and Sheppard Street), with early designs are now available online. As part of this design phase, local businesses will be engaged in the Hume industrial precinct.

This project is jointly funded by the ACT and Australian Governments.
