A new playground has been officially opened in the suburb of Coombs in the Molonglo Valley.

Adding to the list of over 500 Canberra playgrounds, the Ruth Park playground caters for all ages and features modern play equipment including a bird’s nest tower, pod structures, swings, slides, shade structures as well as a BBQ and picnic area.

The playground has been named after Rosina Ruth Lucia Park AM, who was recognised for her service to literature and appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 1987.

A wombat sculpture also featured in the playground pays tribute to the popular children’s book The Muddle-headed Wombat written by the author.

Ruth Park playground is located near Holdens Creek Pond on Edgeworth Parade and will keep kids entertained for hours.
