Canberra’s newest social and affordable housing development, Common Ground Dickson, will support people to move directly from homelessness into permanent housing.

The 40-unit residence in Dickson is the second of its kind, following the construction of Common Ground Gungahlin in 2015.

Community Housing Canberra (CHC) has been contracted by the ACT Government to provide tenancy support and property management services.

CHC has partnered with YWCA Canberra to deliver a range of on-site services to support individual tenant needs including education, employment, financial support, and mental and physical health.

The services offered will be readily available and enable residents to live independently with stability.

“CHC will work hand-in-hand with YWCA support services to create a positive environment where we can empower our tenants to achieve independence,” Community Housing Canberra CEO Andrew Hannan said.

“The supports offered to residents are voluntary and can be accessed when and if required. We’re aiming to equip tenants with the adequate support to enable them to achieve their own goals.”

Common Ground also features meeting spaces, break-out spaces and areas for play, which are available to tenants and the Dickson community.

To contribute to the new Common Ground or its residents, please contact the Community Housing Canberra or the YWCA Canberra.
