A construction tender has been released for improvements along Hardwick Crescent at Kippax group centre.

The preliminary design follows extensive engagement with local businesses and community groups. Construction is expected to begin in May 2023.

The section of Hardwick Crescent between Luke Street and the service station will be enhanced, benefiting both residents and businesses.

Improvements to Kippax include the following:

  1. Wider and improved shopfront pavement, allowing space for outdoor cafes and public outdoor furniture
  2. Increased accessibility along shopfronts
  3. An enhanced streetscape with new plantings and landscaping
  4. Increased amenity, including a new bike rack and rubbish bin
  5. Improved safety for pedestrians with new pedestrian crossings and lighting improvements
  6. Direct pedestrian links between the currently separated commercial centres on either side of the large carparks.

These works are part of the ACT Government’s program for upgrades to suburban infrastructure across Canberra.

They follow recently completed shop upgrades at Kaleen, with significant improvements soon to be completed at Duffy and Campbell local shops.
