New public medical imaging equipment is now available at the Weston Creek Imaging Service.

A public medical imaging service is now available outside the hospital setting, for the first time in the history of Canberra’s health system.
Located at the Weston Creek Community Health Centre, the $6 million Weston Creek Imaging Service will help give Canberrans the right care at the right time.
It will also help free up the hospital imaging service, reducing waiting times for patients with urgent and complex needs.
Canberrans will continue to book their CT, ultrasound scans and X-rays through the usual medical imaging booking system at Canberra Hospital. Appropriate consumers will then be referred to the new Weston Creek Imaging Service.
All eligible patients across the ACT and surrounds can use this service.
In addition, with a referral from a GP or specialist, patients can walk in and get an X-ray at the Weston Creek Imaging Service if an on-the-spot appointment is available.
The addition of the imaging service to the Weston Creek Community Health Centre brings together a range of Canberra Health Services’ functions in one precinct, including:
- The Weston Creek Walk-in Centre
- ACT Pathology
- Community Nursing
- Renal Dialysis
- Maternal and Child Health Services.
This new service adds to the increasingly high quality healthcare and healthcare infrastructure investment across the ACT.
This includes the Canberra Hospital's Critical Services Building, the expansion of the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, Pharmacy and Medical Imaging equipment replacements, a new cancer research centre and the four new Radiation Oncology machines.
The CT scanner at the Weston Creek Imaging Service is wrapped in an artwork by local Indigenous artist Lynnice Church, helping patients focus on something striking during their procedure.
