Restrictive practice online training

Learn how to use a positive behaviour support approach if you work for an ACT education, disability or care and protection service provider.

You may need to complete training if you work for an ACT education, disability or care and protection service provider.

Before you can start

You must get access to the ACT Government online training website (called HRIMS Learning).

  1. Fill in the ACT Government mandatory training portal form.
  2. Wait for the email inviting you to set up your password for HRIMS Learning.
  3. Follow the instructions in the email to finish setting up your access.
  4. Log in to HRIMS Learning to start your training.

What you'll learn

This online training takes about 20 minutes and explains how to:

  • Use a positive behaviour support (PBS) approach.
  • Develop a plan across providers with the aim of one person, one plan.
  • Prepare a plan with the person, their family and someone with expertise in PBS.
  • Get a plan approved through an independent panel.
  • Get an approved plan registered with the Senior Practitioner.
  • Report uses of restrictive practice.

  • share best practices and experience.
