Commentary
Respondents to the Year 7 Health Survey were asked to report how many times they ate discretionary snacks like chocolate, lollies, cake, chips, ice cream and sweet biscuits in the last seven days.
The majority of respondents who consumed discretionary snacks one or more times per week has remained stable between 2020 (93.6%) and 2021 (95.5%). In 2021, males (94.0%) were less likely to report consuming discretionary snacks one or more times per week than females (96.6%), however this difference was not statistically significant.
