Review of low risk research

The Low Risk Sub-Committee (LRSC) provides an expedited review process for research that meets the National Statement definition of low and/or negligible risk. Find out more in chapter 2 of the National Statement.

As of 1 September 2021, low risk research proposals undergoing a non-Human Research Ethics Committee level review are accepted under the National Mutual Acceptance scheme in all jurisdictions except South Australia. For more information go to the Policy Position.

The LRSC reports to the Human Research Ethics Committee. For more information to go the LRSC terms of reference.

The LRSC meets approximately every 2 weeks depending on the number of applications to be assessed. For more information go to LRSC meeting dates.
