An ACT Government Website

Summary

The Charter for Parents and Families involved with ACT child protection services strengthens support for parents and families.

It sets out a shared understanding between families and child protection workers, and what everyone can expect when working together. It does not create new legal rights but makes clear the shared expectations and responsibilities to support positive working relationships.

The Charter reflects the voices of parents and families, their advocates and child protection workers and what they told us was important for a charter to include.

This Charter enables parents and families to feel heard and to be involved with decisions about their children as much as possible, while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people always comes first.
