An ACT Government Website

Our public health system spans hospitals, health clinics and specialist centres located across the Territory. We have three hospitals, five Walk-in Centres and seven community health centres to find the right pathway for you and your career.

The Canberra Hospital

The Canberra Hospital is a modern 600-bed tertiary hospital, providing trauma services and most major medical and surgical sub-specialty services. The hospital is the largest in the region and services a catchment across the ACT and the surrounding regions and includes the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. The hospital is located in the suburb of Garran.

The ACT Government is also making major investment at the Canberra Hospital to include a new Critical Services Building. This is an exciting new opportunity that will enable a much bigger, better Canberra Hospital to meet the needs of the growing city.

Find about more about the hospital's expansion on the BuiltForCBR website.

Mental health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services

The Mental Health Department sits within the Canberra Hospital and provides care for patients with mental health disorders in an inpatient and outpatient setting. It also provides an alcohol and drug service.

As a sub-acute care facility, UCH provides a supportive environment for people needing rehabilitation or mental health care.
