Commentary

In 2018, 22.1% of ACT General Health Survey respondents aged 5-15 years met the physical activity guideline for children (60 minutes or more of physical activity per day).

Note: The indicator shows self-reported data collected through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI). Estimates were weighted to adjust for differences in the probability of selection among respondents and were benchmarked to the estimated residential population using the latest available Australian Bureau of Statistics population estimates.

Based on the National Physical Activity guideline of accumulating 60 minutes or more of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day. For more information, visit Physical activity and exercise guidelines for all Australians.

Responses for children aged 5-15 years are provided by the child's main carer.

60 minutes/day on seven days was calculated by adding school week hours and minutes and weekend hours and minutes in the past week together. If the number of days active in the past week is seven and the total number of minutes is 60 or more, they are considered to meet the guideline. If the number of school week days or weekend days the child is active was missing, the record was excluded from analysis.
