  • Infrastructure upgrades for Calvary Public Hospital Bruce
  • Planning for a new primary school in Strathnairn
  • William Hovell Drive duplication

Living in Canberra’s largest and most established region, Belconnen residents will benefit from the 2021-22 ACT Budget through record investments in school and health infrastructure as the ACT Government supports our community through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Budget is the next stage of the Government’s plan to support Canberran’s through the pandemic and recover from this once-in-a-generation crisis.

Over the coming years, the population in Belconnen is expected to grow with the establishment of new suburbs such as Ginninderry, and $1 million has been provided to design a new primary school in Strathnairn, which will support families moving to West Belconnen.

As part of record investments in health, the 2021-22 ACT Budget will provide over $34 million for Calvary Public Hospital Bruce infrastructure upgrades to ensure Canberrans have access to healthcare when they need it. Further funding will be provided to the hospital to help keep patients, visitors, and staff safe.

The 2021-22 ACT Budget will also provide over $13.5 million to continue planning and forward design for the future hospital in Canberra’s North.

Infrastructure investment will continue with funding for the William Hovell Drive duplication, to reduce traffic congestion and pedestrian and cyclist safety, as well as support the growing region.

The much-loved Belconnen Arts Centre will also receive additional funding, and a Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) household waste trial will also begin in the region.

Local shopping centres will receive upgrades in the suburbs of Kaleen, Kippax, Macquarie and Evatt. New toilets will be built at the Florey local shops, and playgrounds in Kaleen and Aranda will be upgraded for local families. Scullin will also receive upgrades through the Age Friendly Suburbs Program. More information including opportunities to get involved will be provided to the community as these projects take shape.
