Through the 2022-23 ACT Budget the Government is continuing to deliver now and into the future by investing in Canberra schools, hospitals, local services and infrastructure.

In Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo, this includes a focus on education, roads, and emergency services.

A new primary school for Whitlam

Families and children will benefit from a new public primary school to be built in Whitlam, which will cater for up to 800 students including 88 pre-schoolers and 130 children in an Early Childhood and Education Care facility.

The school will include a gymnasium, two hard courts and a sports field for use by the local community. It is expected to be completed in 2025.

Making Streeton Drive safer

Streeton Drive will be made safer for its 20,000 daily road users, with funding toprogress the design and construction of safety improvements – including traffic lights – at its intersections with Namatjira Drive and Heysen Street.

More services for Molonglo

A feasibility study is underway to build an Emergency Services Station in the Molonglo Valley, bringing ambulance, fire and rescue services closer to residents.

The project is receiving funding in the 2022-23 ACT Budget, with the proposed station to be completed in 2025-26.

Funding was also allocated to design work for a new library and community facility for the Molonglo Valley, as well as feasibility studies for a new Stromlo Leisure Centre diving facility.

Improving outdoor dining opportunities at Cooleman Court

Local businesses will be able to provide Canberrans with a better outdoor dining experience at Cooleman Court following future upgrades to Brierly Street.

Preliminary designs incorporate community requests for wider verges, more space for outdoor dining and better landscaping.
