Construction management company IQon Pty Ltd has been selected to design and build Canberra’s first residential eating disorder facility.

IQon expects to complete construction in early 2024.

The centre, to be built on Madgwick Street, Coombs, will provide a home-like environment with specialised support for people with eating disorders, their families and carers on their recovery journey.

It forms part of the ACT Government’s stepped model of care for eating disorders, which links services together so people can access the right support at the right time, with no out-of-pocket expenses or gap-fees.

Members of the community and key stakeholders have been consulted in the facility’s design.

IQon, a Canberra-based company, was awarded the contract following an open tender process.

The ACT Government will now work closely with the company to develop the final sketch plan of the centre, following draft designs being unveiled to the public in late-2022.
