ACT Law Week will take place from 8–12 May 2023.

Canberrans are being encouraged to learn about the law, the Courts, and the important role they play in the community during Law Week.

Law Week is held annually throughout Australia. In the ACT this year’s celebration and events will take place over five days from 8–12 May.

The ACT Law Courts building, located on Knowles Place in Canberra city, will host several community events from 2pm on Thursday 11 May.

Law Expo

Learn more about the law and your rights during the Law Expo.

Local justice organisations including Legal Aid ACT, ACT Law Society, Victims Support and more will showcase their work from 2pm to 4.30pm, in the ACT Law Courts Building foyer.

Court Rooms Tours

Take an educational guided tour of the ACT Court Rooms from 2pm to 4:30pm. Head inside and see what happens.

You be the judge

Be the judge in simulated sentencing hearings hosted by the Chief Justice Lucy McCallum and Acting Chief Magistrate Robert Cook from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
