Finding gluten-free food can sometimes be tricky. Luckily Canberra has plenty of restaurants, cafes and takeaway places offering gluten-free options, so you can still enjoy great dishes without the side effects.

The Canberra community voted on the @wearecbr Instagram for their favourite places that offer gluten-free options in Canberra. Here’s what they came up with.

BZ Burgers, Holt and Belconenn

Located in both Kippax and Belconnen, BZ is known for its mouth-watering burgers.

Packed with gluten-free options including chicken and beef burgers, as well as chips and milkshakes, your next burger run is set with BZ.

Brodburger, multiple locations across Canberra

The little red caravan that has captured the hearts of Canberrans, Brod has some of the most beloved gluten-free burgers.

With both regular sized and baby options and your choice of cheese and meat, Brod is one you don’t want to miss.

Fricken, City and Tuggeranong

Fricken is known for its fabulous gluten-free fried chicken. Originating in Canberra, the business has taken the ACT by storm and has recently expanded into Queensland.

The delicious secret fried chicken recipe was passed down from owner Mo Saad’s mum to himself and brother Marvin, which they mass produced into the fried chicken we have all come to know and love today.

With chicken, burgers and sides that are all gluten free, the menu definitely won’t disappoint. And if that wasn’t already good enough, they also have a gluten-free Fro-Yo bar! Yep, you read that right – every single fro-yo and topping is completely gluten free.

Grease Monkey, multiple locations across Canberra

Burgers and shakes, need we say more? With four locations across Canberra and takeaway too, local fave Greasy’s is always serving up the goods.

Greasy’s offers their classic burgers on gluten-free buns to ensure gluten-free friends feel the love. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, there’s no wonder Greasy’s has become a Canberra cult classic.

Eighty Twenty Café,  (gluten-free café and shoppe), Phillip

The Phillip location of Eighty Twenty Café is 100% gluten free! There is a beautiful glass cabinet packed with treats and sit-down options for all day and takeaway meals, plus acai bowls and smoothies.

Located in the new WOVA residential towers on Launceston Street, they have truly made gluten-free living simple and delicious.

FREED.ME, Gungahlin (with bread across Canberra) 

Dedicated entirely to gluten-free baking, Freed Me creates everything from bread and pastries to cakes and sweet treats.

Their products can be found at various locations across Canberra, making it easier than ever to stock up on quality gluten-free baked goods.

OMG Decadent Donuts, pop-ups across Canberra

OMG Decadent Donuts offer flavour-packed and totally delicious donuts, which are certified by Coeliac Australia.

If you've got a sweet tooth, Sweet Business Healthy Living is one to add to your list.

Located in Capital Food Market, Belconnen, Sweet Business Healthy Living specialises in treats that cater to a range of dietary requirements. They offer a fantastic selection of gluten-free cakes, slices, desserts and baked goodies.

The Marion, Parkes

Looking for something a little fancy? The Marion offers a gluten-free high tea experience with 24 hours' notice.

High tea is served daily from 10 am. Expect beautiful sweet and savoury treats, picturesque lake views and all the elegance of a traditional high tea without missing out on the goodies.

Via Dolce is a long-time Canberra favourite, right in the heart of the city.
