We are pleased to release our Strategic Plan for 2025–2030, setting an exciting new direction for the transformation of Canberra’s City Centre. Building on the foundation laid by our inaugural Strategic Plan (2018–2025), this new roadmap reflects our evolution as a progressive urban renewal organisation.

At the heart of our Strategic Plan is a clear and compelling vision:

The City Centre is the heart of Canberra: a captivating gathering place where creativity, work, life and leisure come together.

This vision guides our efforts to shape a City Centre that is vibrant, inclusive, and economically dynamic. Creating a place where people want to live, work, visit and invest.

Two children walk together in Glebe Park wearing black t-shirts and shorts holding ice-creams, they appear to be brothers and are surrounded by people enjoying the festive atmosphere.

To bring this vision to life, we’ve outlined a series of strategic goals and initiatives that will drive our work over the next five years:

These initiatives reinforce the City Centre’s role as the vibrant heart of the nation’s capital and Canberra’s largest economic hub.

Our work is grounded in a place-based approach, focusing on the physical, social and economic development of the City Renewal Precinct. This includes Dickson, Braddon, the City Centre, and Acton Waterfront.

We believe that successful urban renewal is built on genuine engagement. That’s why we’re committed to working closely with the Canberra community and stakeholders to ensure our places reflect the ideas and aspirations of those who live, work and play here.

Our engagement approach also includes a commitment to working with Traditional Custodians. By recognising, reflecting and learning about the importance of Country to First Nations cultures, we aim to create places that honour their rich heritage and contribute to our shared history.

In addition to engagement, our Strategic Plan places strong emphasis on:

We are excited by our role to deliver, advocate, facilitate, collaborate and influence urban renewal in the heart of our city and more than willing to meet the challenge of bringing ideas and excellence that support Canberra in remaining ‘one of the most liveable places in the world’.

We will welcome the Canberra community’s participation in this next phase.
