Mark your calendars, Canberra’s City Centre is set to come alive with the magic of winter as Winter in the City returns from 5–19 July 2025. This year, it’s bigger, brighter, and more exciting than ever before.
For 15 spectacular days, Canberra's heart will be transformed into a dynamic winter theatre, offering free family-friendly entertainment by day and breathtaking fire performances by night.
Free fire performances will return to Canberra's City Centre this July.
Nationally renowned performers will bring world-class entertainment. Expect to see choreographed fire shows and crowd-thrilling pyrotechnics alongside family-friendly shows delivering laughs, jaw-dropping stunts and theatrical spectacles that will leave audiences of all ages spellbound.
Family-friendly theatre, circus, and comedy shows will captivate audiences of all ages.
The Winter in the City program will culminate with a special city edition of The Forage, Canberra’s beloved street food festival on Saturday, 19 July. The City Centre will be humming with live music, family performances, fire shows, and a mouthwatering selection of food and drink from local vendors. It’s the perfect way to wrap up two weeks of winter fun.
City Renewal is encouraging businesses in the city and Braddon to take part in The Forage event, offering a reduced stallholder fee. Eligibility criteria and conditions apply.

Winter in the City is part of the City Renewal Authority’s annual Place Experience and Marketing plan, designed to enhance the appeal of the City Centre and support local businesses.
