The Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer provides strategic nursing and midwifery advice to:

  • the ACT Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer
  • ACT Health
  • Canberra Health Services Executives
  • North Canberra Hospital Executives.

Our principal focus is on health policy, professional and regulatory governance, career development and workforce issues.

The team also manages strategic projects on workforce development, career advancement, scholarships, workloads, and other initiatives.

The office researches and responds to government and non-government agencies on national and international issues on health policy, regulation and professional standards.

The office is led by the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and supported by nursing and midwifery advisors and project officers.

Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer

The ACT Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer is the professional leader for the nursing and midwifery professions in the ACT.

The officer is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the primary, community and tertiary services delivered by nurses and midwives and the ongoing development of the professions across the Territory. They represent the ACT on the Australian and New Zealand Council of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers.

Research
