Three schools in Tuggeranong are among the latest ACT public schools to receive upgrades and improvements.

Gilmore Primary School, Charles Conder Primary School and Caroline Chisholm School have received new play areas, new learning spaces or safety and security improvements to existing areas.

The ACT Government is continually upgrading local schools to ensure every ACT public school a great place to learn.

Gilmore Primary School students have been enjoying their two new playing areas, one of which is home to a loose parts playground that encourages play for all ages.

The other area provides extra space for games such as touch football and has been well received by Gilmore Primary students, who are happy to have more space to play with their friends.

“There’s a lot more grass and open space to play,” said Cohen, a year 6 student.

Charles Conder Primary School has also had some learning spaces upgraded, which has provided the school with two additional classroom spaces for years 3 and 4.

“These upgrades have created a flexible learning space that promotes a collaborative learning environment,” said Principal Jason Walmsley.

The new classrooms feature flexible furniture and are adjacent to the years 5 and 6 classrooms, ensuring a consistent learning environment for students in years 3 to 6.

Caroline Chisholm School has recently had new fencing installed on their junior campus.

This fencing will improve security and safety across play spaces for the primary school students during school hours.

Other upgrades are currently happening at schools across the ACT include new small learning spaces and wet areas, bike sheds, outdoor shade areas and improvements to playgrounds. Many of these are to improve facilities and ensure students with disability can take full advantage of education opportunities.
