Community engagement is now underway on the draft East Lake Place Plan.

Canberrans are invited to have their say on the area’s renewal to help shape how the area will look.

The East Lake area, which stretches from the eastern end of Kingston Foreshore to the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and from the railway station to the CIT, has been relatively underutilised.

The draft plan aims to transition it into a thriving community with a range of housing options, most notably in the area known as The Causeway.

Incorporated into the plan are nods to the area’s history, people, surrounding environment and special connection to the wetlands.

Long-term considerations for the area include transformation of the railway precinct into a transport hub, along with business, light industry and education opportunities.

Different interest groups and demographics that live and work in and around East Lake are catered to in the plan, following input from Canberrans on development of the place plan in July-August 2022.

The consultation is open on the draft East Lake Place Plan on YourSay Conversations until 18 May 2023.
