Gang Gang Cafe in Downer is one of many Canberra eateries to have transitioned from gas to electric with the support of ACT Government’s Sustainable Business Program.

“While there is an upfront cost to transition, we see this as a long-term investment for our business,” Co-owner Sam Conway said.

“Our kitchen environment is calmer and safer as it is not as hot in there with gas cooktops running all day long, and we’re also saving so much time as cleaning up takes a small fraction of the time compared to our old kitchen.”

Benefits of cooking with induction

Speedy cooking – induction cooktops heat up faster than traditional gas or electric stoves, cutting your cooking time by up to 50%.

Energy efficiency – induction cooktops are incredibly efficient at transferring energy into heat, meaning more energy goes directly into cooking your food, reducing wasted heat and lowering your energy bills.

Safety first – induction cooktops don't produce direct heat, reducing burn risks and staying cool to the touch soon after turning off. They also automatically shut off when cookware is removed.

Precise temperature control – enjoy precise control over your cooking temperatures, making it easier to achieve perfect results every time.

Easy to clean – with a smooth, flat surface, spills and splatters are easy to wipe away, keeping your kitchen looking spotless.

Large range – it's an easy decision switching to electric. With a large range you can find something that meets your needs and budget.

Are you looking to make the switch at home?

The ACT Government has partnered with CHOICE to create a free online tool, to help Canberrans transition to all-electric homes.

Use the tool to create an energy transition plan and see how much you can save by switching to all-electric home appliances.
