National Arboretum Canberra

The National Archives of Australia
Check out the free educational and interactive exhibition for kids. Learn about Australia’s railway history and life on the Trans-Australian Railway.

National Library of Australia
Join international children’s picture book creator Ronojoy Ghosh for a creative writing and drawing workshop. Children will create a story and characters together. Bookings required.

National Museum of Australia
The Museum is hosting workshops for children to learn the art of puppet-making, shadow play and storytelling. Bookings required.
Ages 5-15 years.
Tickets start from $18 per child and are cheaper if you bring a friend. Accompanying adults are free.
Royal Australian Mint
The Mint are running holiday programs for children to learn all about coins. Mini-Minties is aimed at 3–5-year-olds and Mintventures is for children aged 6 -12 years old. Bookings required.

Australian National Botanic Gardens
The MEGAfauna trail is back! From 1-31 July, children can adventure the Botanical Gardens and come face-to-face with giant creatures from the past.

Museum of Australian Democracy
From 7-17 July, MoAD are offering craft sessions, book illustrations and, yoga and meditation for children. Bookings required.

Quizzic Alley are hosting a range of magical classes for kids to get creative. Create a mystical potion or join the professor and make your very own wand.

Snow fun these school holidays
There are plenty of snowy spots near Canberra — some just 45 minutes away! From free play areas to family-friendly destinations like Corin Forest, they are perfect for tobogganing, snowball fights, and more.
Run wild at Canberra Zoo and Aquarium
Join the zoo hosts for Zoocation who take children on an up close and personal experience with zoo animals. Children will get to meet the animals, play games, make toys for the animals, and learn something new along the way.

Scale the treetops at Majura Pines
If your kids need a little outdoor action, head to Treetops Adventure at Majura Pines. Featuring more than 90 aerial obstacles and 16 zip lines, there are three junior courses and five tree top ropes courses.

Join Nutrition Australia and learn to cook
Nutrition Australia are offering children’s cooking classes. The sessions are run by a passionate team of dietitians. Children will learn a range of cooking methods, knife skills and food safety tips. The sessions are designed to be fun and social, with children working both independently and in pairs to prepare and cook dishes from our healthy recipe collection.
