The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) has awarded the Evelyn Scott School preschool unit an ‘Excellent’ rating.
The Evelyn Scott School preschool unit is in Denman Prospect.
It is the first ACT public preschool to achieve this rating.
What is the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)?
ACECQA is an independent national authority.
It helps governments administer the National Quality Framework (NQF) for children's education and care.
What is the National Quality Framework (NQF)?
The NQF is Australia’s system for regulating early learning and school-age care.
This includes outside school hours care services across Australia.
The NQF provides a national approach to:
- regulation
- assessment
- quality improvement.
About the ‘Excellent’ rating
An ‘Excellent’ rating is a significant achievement.
It recognises providers and educators using innovative practice to achieve improvements for:
- their children and families
- the local community and/or organisations
- the wider education and care sector.
There are more than 18,000 children’s education and care providers across Australia. Fewer than 30 have been rated ‘Excellent’.
The Evelyn Scott School preschool unit opened in 2021. It can accommodate 88 students.
