Local markets are more than just a place to grab a quick bite or pick up a few veggies.
A visit to a local market is an opportunity to:

- enjoy a delicious meal

- support your community.
No matter which side of the lake you live on, Canberra has some excellent markets. Some are weekly, some only come a few times a year – but all of them offer a unique Canberra experience.
Here’s your guide to Canberra’s markets.
Capital Region Farmers Market
- Location: Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC)
- Frequency: Almost every Saturday (check the website for dates) from 7 am to 11:30 am.
Capital Region Farmers Market has connected local producers with hungry Canberrans for over 20 years. You can find fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and poultry, plus:
- flowers
- plants
- baked goods
- nuts and seeds
- dairy products
- and plenty more.
There's also freshly prepared food and coffee. Take a seat and refuel with plenty of cuisines on offer.
Sly Fox Market
- Location: Emu Bank, Belconnen
- Frequency: Monthly
Find Sly Fox Markets on Emu Bank by Lake Ginninderra, between the Belconnen Arts Centre and the Scout Hall. The markets are on every third Saturday of the month.
Shop local arts, crafts, vintage and second-hand clothing, food, music, books and more. Plus, it's organised by Sly Fox Coffee, so you know your caffeine needs are sorted too.
Southside Farmers Market
- Location: Canberra College, Launceston Street, Phillip
- Frequency: Every Sunday from 7 am to 11:30 am
A similar feel to the Capital Region Farmers Market, but on a smaller scale. It has a strong community feel, with smiling stallholders eager to have a chat.
Don’t forget to pick up a coffee and something delicious to eat.
Handmade Market
- Location: Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC)
- Frequency: Quarterly
Each Handmade Market sees over 260 small businesses gather at EPIC. Each market presents a different array of stallholders. You can expect Australian designers and makers selling homewares, fashion, artworks and everything in between.
There is also a dedicated gourmet food hall.
Old Bus Depot Markets
- Location: 21 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston
- Frequency: Every Sunday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
These markets are held at the Old Bus Depot, a beautiful industrial building. There's a large range of vendors stocking an array of wares.
Enjoy a variety of different cuisines, baked goods and coffee. The Old Bus Depot Markets has an especially strong arts, crafts and collectibles presence. Homewares, fashion and accessories are also popular.
Haig Park Village Markets
- Location: Haig Park, Braddon
- Frequency: Every Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm.
This weekly market has a lovely community atmosphere. Dogs are welcome and it’s family friendly, with activities for kids, especially in the school holidays.
The food options are particularly good, so be sure to come with an empty stomach.
Keep an eye out for their annual Spring Sustainability Market and Christmas Market, too.
Hartley Hall Markets
- Location: Hall Showground, Hall Street, Hall
- Frequency: The first Sunday of every month (except January) from 9 am to 2 pm.
These markets have a small-town country theme. There’s a very rural feel, with down-to-earth local suppliers.
There’s produce, arts, crafts, gifts and more. While you’re there, stock up on fresh food at one of the many vendors, and enjoy some live music.
The markets are dog-friendly and families are welcome. There is also plenty of parking, and the showgrounds and all facilities are accessible.
Entry is via gold coin donation, which supports local disability service charity Hartley Lifecare.
The Little Burley Market
- Location: Beside Lake Burley Griffin on Queen Elizabeth Terrace, Commonwealth Place, Parkes
- Frequency: The first Saturday of the month from 9 am until 2 pm (weather permitting).
This might just be Canberra’s most scenic market. Set on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, there are beautiful views year-round.
Dogs are welcome and there are even dog treats for sale.
There are plenty of food and coffee options, as well as homewares, accessories, flowers and more.
Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets
- Location: Mildura Street, Fyshwick
- Frequency: Every Thursday to Sunday from 7 am to 5:30 pm.
This was Canberra’s first farmers market, beginning more than 50 years ago.
These days, you can find just about everything you need for your weekly shop. There are delis, bakeries, cafes, produce shops and so much more. Niche Markets is a subsection of the markets where you’ll find specialty stores, fresh food options galore and Book Lovers Lane.
Capital Food Market
- Location: 10 Lathlain Street, Belconnen
- Frequency:
- Core hours: Monday–Friday, 8 am to 6 pm
- Traders: Wednesday–Sunday, 8 am to 6 pm
- Dining: Monday–Sunday 10 am to 10 pm.
This market first opened in 1976 as the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets. It’s recently had a revamp and houses a wide variety of different retailers.
In addition to produce, delices and bakeries, you'll find plenty of dining options, gourmet cheeses, gelato and a book store. There are also kids' activities on the first Saturday of the month.
Trash and Treasure Market Jamison
- Location: Bowman Street Macquarie
- Frequency: Every Sunday morning, from 7 am to 12 pm
Beginning in 1974, this is billed as Canberra's longest-running community treasure hunt.
It’s held weekly in the car park at Jamison shops with dozens of stalls selling:
- fresh produce and food
- plants
- clothing and jewellery
- books and toys
- tools and so much more.
Lakeside Markets
- Location: Lake Tuggeranong College, 123 Cowlishaw Street, Greenway
- Frequency: Monthly, on the fourth Sunday of the month, from 9 am to 2 pm. Check dates.
This monthly market is held at the waterfront Lake Tuggeranong College. Explore local goods and connect with the community. You can expect:
- local products
- food stalls
- arts and crafts
- onsite parking
- live music
- family and dog friendly
- seasonal events
- kids’ activities.
For Purpose Markets
- Location: DKB Community Hall, 8 Hawdon Place, Dickson
- Frequency: first Saturday of every month, from 10 am to 2 pm.
This market showcases Canberra’s for-purpose and social enterprise businesses. You'll find it next to Cafe Stepping Stone Dickson.
As well as gifts, goodies, food, art and workshops, you'll find plenty of friendly faces and information on inclusive employment, small business growth, events and connection.
Pints and Produce Fruit and Veg Market
- Location: Capital Brewing Co, Building 3/1 Dairy Road, Fyshwick
- Frequency: Sundays, from 12 pm to 4 pm.
They call this a mini market with a twist, turning grocery shopping from a chore to a fun day out.
Stop for a drink, a relax then browse the selection of seasonal fruit and veg. You'll pay $40 all you can fit in a box. The only rule is: if you can close the box, you can keep it.
There are also add-ons to buy, plus face painting and a raffle each week.
Toora Pre-loved Fashion Fair
- Location: Canberra Labor Club, 51 Chandler Street, Belconnen
- Frequency: Sunday 18 October 2026, 12 pm to 5:30 pm, then ad hoc
- Note: ticketed entry
Head along for an afternoon of fashion, bargains and community impact. There will be hundreds of high-quality pre-loved items and a runway show. There are even prizes up for grabs,
All purchases will help create opportunity for women and children across the ACT experiencing family violence, homelessness and other complex challenges.
The Forage
- Location: various
- Frequency: a few times a year
Canberra foodies await the announcement of the next Forage with bated breath. It’s a food lover’s dream, with dozens of local food and beverage businesses to choose from.
There are often entertainment options too, including live music and performances.
Three Sixty Fashion Market
- Location: The Fitters' Workshop, Printers Way Kingston (part of the Kingston Powerhouse historic precinct)
- Frequency: a few times a year
This niche Canberra market is dedicated to sustainable fashion. You're sure to uncover some intriguing clothing and great buys with genuine, quality vintage, retro and pre-loved items.
Canberra Fashion Market
- Location: The Fitters' Workshop, Printers Way Kingston (part of the Kingston Powerhouse historic precinct)
- Frequency: a few times a year
This market features stalls selling fashion, designer and vintage clothing and accessories. Only quality gently-used or new goods are accepted for sale, so you can expect to find some gems.
Harmonie German Club Markets
- Location: 49 Jerrabomberra Avenue Narrabundah
- Frequency: About three times a year
These markets bring an authentic slice of European market culture to Canberra. The Christmas market is particularly popular.
You'll find authentic German beers, schnapps, wines, cakes and specialty groceries. You can even pre-order. There’s also plenty of non-food products to browse, plus a live entertainment and a jumping castle for the kids.
Calwell Monthly Market
- Location: Calwell Shopping Centre, 7 Webber Crescent Calwell
- Frequency: monthly, on the third Saturday of the month, from 9 am to 2 pm.
This market is held on the third Saturday of the month at Calwell shops.
It's a grassroots celebration of local makers, small businesses and community connection with a different theme each month.
