Construction has begun on a second college in Gungahlin.
The college is being built in Nicholls and will help meet the educational needs of Gungahlin’s growing population.
When it opens, the second college will be able to teach 800 year 11 and 12 students, with room to grow.
Key features
The college will be modern and inclusive, meeting the learning and wellbeing needs of all students.
Some features of the college include:
- learning spaces and welcoming shared common spaces
- sports and arts facilities for school and community use
- modern administration spaces, including a leadership and staff centre
- a performing arts theatre
- a gymnasium
- tennis hardcourts
- sports field
- electric food-technology classrooms
- water-wise landscaping
- active transport facilities.
The all-electric building will be sustainable and powered by a solar system.
Hindmarsh will build the college, which is expected to open for term 1 in 2029.
