In brief:

  • Twenty-nine organisations will receive a share in extra funding to the arts.
  • Three organisations will receive funding for the first time.
  • Supported art forms include visual arts, theatre, dance, music and literature.

As part of the 2026/27 Budget, the ACT Government increased funding to arts organisations by 25 per cent.

The Government has announced 29 local arts organisations will receive a share of this funding boost through the Arts Organisation Investment Program.

The program funds organisations that support Canberra’s artists.

These organisations also support the ACT community to access and experience the arts.

Art forms to receive funding including visual arts, theatre, dance, music and literature.

Three organisations will receive funding for the first time, including:

  • Canberra Writers Festival
  • Lexi Sekuless Productions (Mill Theatre)
  • Tributary Projects Incorporated.

The Canberra Writers Festival will receive $70,000 to deliver an annual writers festival and support local writers.

Theatre company, Lexi Sekuless Productions, will receive $50,000 to deliver independent theatre productions through Mill Theatre.

Visual arts initiative, Tributary Projects Incorporated, will receive $50,000 to support new artists.

Continued funding will support some of Canberra’s favourite art centres and initiatives, including:

  • The Street Theatre
  • Tuggeranong Arts Centre
  • Canberra Glassworks
  • Belconnen Arts Centre
  • Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
