In brief:

  • Construction is complete on the new Gungahlin Community Centre.
  • It will open on Monday 6 July, with spaces for events, activities and a youth hub.
  • The new centre will support the growing Gungahlin population and give people a place to connect.

The new purpose-built Gungahlin Community Centre will open on Monday 6 July 2026.

Construction is now complete, and final touches are being added.

The new facility has been built in response to community feedback. The local community and key stakeholders were consulted during the planning process to ensure the centre met their needs.

It is located on the corner of Efkarpidis Street and Gungahlin Place in the Gungahlin Town Centre. This ensures easy access to public transport with light rail nearby and a bus stop out the front. There is also nearby parking and bike facilities.

Gungahlin Community Centre features

The new building offers a range of inclusive spaces. The community can hire these spaces for meetings, events, programs and more.

It features:

  • activity and meeting rooms
  • a large hall
  • creative studios
  • a kitchen
  • a gallery room
  • a dance studio
  • a large hall
  • a youth hub.

There will also be outdoor green spaces around the centre for people to gather and relax.

The youth hub

A youth hub will be co-located with the centre. This will offer young people a safe place and better access to important supports.

Gunners Place Consortium will operate the Youth Hub, building on the work of the community-driven Gunners Place facility, which will relocate from the Town Centre to the Youth Hub.
