An ACT Government Website

All registered food businesses in the ACT must appoint a food safety supervisor. This includes if you are selling food at a declared event.

Food safety supervisors must:

  • be properly trained in food safety
  • know how to recognise, prevent and lessen food handling hazards
  • supervise the correct handling of food by others.

For more information about what type of food safety supervisor training is required for your business or event, read the ACT's Food Training Approval Guidelines.

Appointing a food safety supervisor

1. Complete the food safety supervisor notification form

2. Return it to the Health Protection Service.

New businesses have 30 days after registration to appoint a food safety supervisor.
