The University of Canberra (UC) Southside Hub is helping future university students prepare for higher education.
The Hub has opened at Lake Tuggeranong College. It provides advice and support for southside students and the community.
UC staff and faculty specialists run workshops and drop-in sessions to help students transition to higher education.
Workshops cover a range of topics including:
- academic writing skills
- financing university
- portfolio entry
- career planning
- alternative pathways.
The Hub also runs workshops to build connection, belonging and pathway conversations across generations.
Former Lake Tuggeranong College student Georgia is now studying law, politics and international relations at UC.
She said the thought of attending university is an exciting time, but for some it can seem overwhelming, stressful and out of reach.
“I know that as a student, that thinking about your future, applying for university and not knowing what to expect can feel very daunting,” Georgia said.
“However, I truly believe that this partnership will help other students feel supported and guided as they plan for life after college.”
The University of Canberra Southside Hub is available to all college students and prospective university students in the region.
