Construction of new tailored recovery and wellbeing facilities in Watson is now complete.
The new facilities will help young people who are experiencing mental health conditions or issues with alcohol and other drugs.
The precinct is in a bushland setting at the base of Mount Majura.
It will give vulnerable young Canberrans greater access to care and support, close to home.
Key organisations
Two organisations will provide services from the site.
The Ted Noffs Foundation will offer alcohol and other drug rehabilitation services for young people.
Marymead CatholicCare will provide residential care for young people experiencing mental health conditions.
New spaces designed for recovery
Monarch Building Solutions built the new facilities.
Construction started in May 2025 and replaced ageing buildings on the site.
The new buildings are welcoming, safe and inclusive. They have been designed to support recovery and wellbeing.
Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services will run a neighbouring new 24-bed residential rehabilitation facility for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Winnunga Nimmityjah led this facility’s design and delivery, ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and experience shaped the project.
Once operational, the facility will address an important service gap in the ACT by expanding access to culturally safe residential rehabilitation services.
Connection to Country was central to site selection, helping to create a place that supports healing, recovery and wellbeing.
