An ACT Government Website

Funding: $2.1 million

Dragon boating is one of Canberra's most popular water-based sports. In the ACT, it appeals to a growing number of women, as well as people of all ages. The new dragon boat facility is designed to support this growing sport into the future.

The facility includes:

  • boat storage
  • amenities and change rooms
  • a training room
  • event administration space.

The new facility has been sub-leased to Dragon Boat ACT (DBACT). This is the governing body for dragon boating in the ACT. DBACT currently has around 600 members, of which approximately 70% are female. They have 10 teams, including three school teams.

The new facility allows DBACT to continue to run its regattas at Grevillea Park. It also helps to increase activity at Lake Burley Griffin's East Basin.
