Canberra’s Healthcare System

Investing in health infrastructure

SPIRE GP

Demonstrating the importance of healthcare, the ACT Government currently allocates almost one-third of its annual budget to delivering better healthcare services. The new Critical Services Building at Canberra Hospital represents an investment of more than $500 million into the ACT’s hospital system.

Healthcare infrastructure in the ACT includes a network of community health and walk-in centres located close to where people live, as well as centrally located hospitals designed to deliver high-quality health services in a coordinated and efficient manner.

The new facility will consolidate acute and critical care services on the Canberra Hospital campus, including emergency, intensive care, surgical and interventional radiology, supporting improved operating efficiency and enhanced patient outcomes.
