An ACT Government Website

You must apply or express interest for a clinical placement through your education provider's placement officer or course convener.

The Clinical Placement Office (CPO) doesn't take applications directly from students.

Students and trainees from local education providers and those who live in the ACT are prioritised for placements. All placements are subject to availability.

International students will only be offered clinical placements in very exceptional cases.

After you apply

You must complete the placement prerequisites at least 2 weeks before your placement starts.

One week before your placement starts, contact the placement area for a nursing or midwifery roster and collect your ACT Health Student ID from the security office.

Acknowledgement form

You must sign your acknowledgement form, demonstrating you have read and understood the responsibilities while on placement.

You must complete this form annually (every 365 days) in your HRIMS Learning account.

Placement cancellation

Your placement can be cancelled by the Clinical Placement Office manager or your education provider.

A fee may be charged for clinical placements cancelled within 14 days of the placement start date.

Students who are ACT Health staff members

Your application for a student placement is the same as for other students.

Requirements

You will have two separate accounts for HRIMS, one as a staff member and one as a student. You will need to email CPO with a copy of your learning history to have recognition of prior learning provided for the courses you have already completed to your student account.

You are required to complete face-to-face manual handling training every 12 months. If this training session has not been completed through your education provider, you must send proof of attendance at a training session in the last 12 months to the CPO.
