ACT 888 nomination

The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (Subclass 888) is a permanent visa for people who invested in Canberra and successfully conducted business or entrepreneurial activity in the ACT for at least two (2) years.

The ACT nomination is available for the following streams:

This visa is for successful businesspeople who invested a minimum $200,000 to establish or purchase a business in Australia.  If you are seeking ACT 188 A nomination, you must show that the ACT business activity was viable and of economic benefit to the Territory.

You must meet the following criteria:

  • Meet Department of Home Affairs criteria for Business Innovation and Investment (permanent) visa (subclass 888)
  • Provide evidence that you have invested in the ACT and conducted business activity in accordance with the approved ACT business proposal.
  • Show that you have complied with your ACT nomination obligations to settle in Canberra as the holder of a subclass 188 visa.

If you are invited to apply for ACT nomination, you will receive an email with the weblink to the online application form.

You must attach the following information:

  • Signed declaration that you have met the ACT nomination obligations as the holder of a Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (Subclass 888).
  • A short summary (no more than two pages) describing your ACT business activity, including photographs of business premises and business activities (no more than six photos).
  • Evidence of ACT business ownership:
    • Australian Business Number (ABN) and registration for each business claimed.
    • Evidence of initial investment to purchase or establish the ACT business and ownership interest in the business.
    • Business Activity Statement (BAS) and personal taxation notice of assessment for the two years prior to application.
    • One page organisation chart showing your position in the business, staff attribution, management reporting lines and functional responsibilities.
  • Evidence of net value of your ACT business and personal assets.
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae and summary of successful investment career.
  • A current Department of Home Affairs form 1139A - Statement of Assets and Liabilities Position.
  • Copy of your passport bio-data page (and Australian visas if any) for main applicant and dependents.
  • Department of Home Affairs Form 1414 Nomination – Business Skills (completed and signed).
  • Service fee: $1,100. The service fee must be paid to complete your application.

Please note that documentary evidence in languages other than English MUST be accompanied by an English translation, completed by an accredited translator

This is a permanent visa is for people who invested at least $1.25 million / 5 million in a Complying Significant Investment.

If you are seeking ACT nomination, you must show that the Complying Investment was of economic benefit to the ACT.

  • Documentary evidence to support the significant complying investment over the last four years; including the minimum $500,000 investment into a Complying Significant Investment that is of economic benefit to the ACT.
  • Statement outlining Australian investment activity, including details on how the investment activity contributed to the ACT economy.
  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae and summary of successful investment career.
  • A current Department of Home Affairs form 1139A - Statement of Assets and Liabilities Position.
  • Copy of passport (bio page and Australian visas if any) for main applicant and dependents.
  • Completed and signed form 956 Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance (if applicable).
  • Department of Home Affairs Form 1414 Nomination – Business Skills (completed and signed).
  • Service fee: $1100. The service fee must be paid to complete your application.

This is a permanent visa is for successful entrepreneurs in Canberra

If you want to apply for ACT 888 nomination of the Entrepreneur visa, you must meet certain criteria.

These include the following:

  • Meet Department of Home Affairs criteria for a Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa – Entrepreneur stream.
  • Demonstrated evidence of undertaking entrepreneurial activity in the ACT that relates to an innovative idea that led to the successful commercialisation of a product or service or the development of an enterprise of business in Canberra. The entrepreneurial venture must not be related to residential real estate, labour hire or involve purchasing an existing business or franchise.

  • Documentary evidence that your entrepreneurial activity led to the successful commercialisation of a product, service, or business in Canberra.

  • A copy of your passport bio-data page (and Australian visas if any).
  • Service fee: $1100.
