Housing ACT

We look after the ACT Government’s public housing. We provide low cost rental homes for Canberrans who are most in need.

What we do

We assess applications for public housing and maintain public housing in the ACT.

We work with the homelessness sector to help people who have become homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

Our services

  • Public housing in the ACT: information about applying for public housing and being a public housing tenant.
  • Rental rebate: a discount on market rent for public housing tenants who meet the income limits.
  • Occupational Therapy Service: assessments to help older tenants and people with disability live more independently in their Housing ACT homes.
  • Rental bond help: an interest-free loan from Housing ACT to pay a rental bond for a private rental.
  • Safer Families Assistance: a $2,000 payment to help set up a home for those who have experienced domestic or family violence.
