SANDFORD STREET LIGHT RAIL STOP NOW OPERATIONAL
Canberrans will have better access to the growing Mitchell industrial and services hub with the new Sandford Street light rail stop now complete and in operation.
Construction of the Sandford Street stop commenced in December 2020 and with the stop now in operation it will see many benefits for the local community, including improved connectivity for the Mitchell business precinct, as well as supporting the development of the future suburb in Kenny.
The new Sandford Street light rail stop:
- provides improved access to the Mitchell business district
- is approximately a 15-minute journey to the city and 9 minutes to Gungahlin
- has services every 5-6 minutes during peak times
- powered by 100% renewable electricity.
The project itself has supported more than 200 jobs in the design and construction and was co-funded by the Federal and Territory Governments.
