The Canberra Theatre Redevelopment project will create a nationally significant destination for artists and audiences in the heart of Canberra’s Civic and Culture District.
Design concepts will be released throughout the design process. There will be several opportunities commencing 2023 for the community and stakeholders to provide feedback and input into the project.
Design, public consultation and approval processes will take around two years and will inform planning for the project’s construction phase.
It is the ACT Government’s ambition for Canberra to be recognised as Australia’s arts capital and the redevelopment of the Canberra Theatre Centre brings this vision another step closer.
A redeveloped Canberra Theatre Centre, including a new major theatre, is essential to the city’s performing arts future and a key driver for the tourism, economy, hospitality, and accommodation sectors.
