Cabinet agreed the Minister for Health deliver the Ministerial Statement on Report No. 3 of the Health and Community Wellbeing Committee - Appropriation Bill 2021-2022 and Appropriation (Office of the Legislative Assembly) Bill 2021-22 - Update on Recommendation 11 - Development of a Disability Health Strategy in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

The delivery of the Ministerial Statement will have a positive wellbeing impact in the health domain. Delivering the Ministerial Statement signals to the community that the ACT Government is committed to developing the 10-year Disability Health Strategy and its first Action Plan (collectively known as the DHS) with the ACT disability community to ensure better health outcomes for people with disability.

Cabinet noted the positive wellbeing impacts on workers and the broader community from measures to improve entitlements and conditions.

Annual Response to Assembly Resolution of 31 March 2021 - Urban Tree Canopy Coverage

Children and Young People Amendment Bill 2023 – Policy Approval

The ACT Government agreed proposed amendments to the Children and Young People Act 2008 have the potential for positive wellbeing impacts on children and families in the ACT.

Long Service Leave (Portable Schemes) Amendment Bill 2022 – Combined Pass

Cabinet agreed to amendments being drafted to the Long Service Leave (Portable Schemes) Act 2009 to expand the industries covered by portable long service leave entitlements and make other minor and technical amendments within the legislative portfolio of the Minister for Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety; and Cabinet agreed to introduce the Bill in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Expansion of the portable long service leave schemes’ coverage will have positive wellbeing impacts for workers in the Territory, by improving access to long service leave in industries with relatively high rates of insecure employment and employee mobility.

Government Response to the Australian National University ACT Drug and Alcohol Sentencing List: Process and Outcome Evaluation Final Report

Combined Our Booris, Our Way Review – Six-monthly Update and A Step Up for Our Kids Snapshot Report – November 2022

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Families and Community Services deliver a Ministerial Statement on the progress of the Government Response to the recommendations from the Our Booris, Our Way Review and the A Step Up for Our Kids Out of Home Care Strategy and tabling the Our Booris, Our Way six-monthly update and Snapshot Reports in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

This is a combined update on Government progress on implementing the recommendations of the Our Booris Our Way Review and data from A Step Up for Our Kids Home Care Strategy 2015-2020. This is the fourth six monthly report on progress in implementing recommendations from the Our Booris Our Way review and covers the period 1 January 2022 to 30 June 2022. Progress against A Step Up for Our Kids consists of a Snapshot Report of data from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2022.

The Government Submission supports the Planning Bill 2022, which is anticipated to positively impact the wellbeing of the Canberra community, by establishing a planning system that supports and enhances the Territory’s liveability and prosperity and promotes the wellbeing of residents. The Planning Bill 2022 will have substantial wellbeing impacts across the wellbeing domains of economy, environment and climate, and governance and institutions.

Carbon Footprint Calculator for Business - Response to Assembly Resolution of 22 March 2022

Cabinet agreed the Government response to the 22 March Assembly resolution regarding the development of a Carbon Footprint Calculator for ACT Businesses be tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly

The development of additional tools to support ACT businesses in their transition to net zero emission operations is expected to have a positive impact on climate change through reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
