Summary of Cabinet outcomes
As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.
Welcome
The Chief Minister welcomed Ministers to the inaugural Cabinet meeting of the 8th Assembly. The Chief Minister also extended a particular welcome to the Greens Minister, Mr Shane Rattenbury MLA.

Cabinet Sub-Committees
Cabinet agreed to the formation of three sub-committees of Cabinet:
* Budget Committee – to consider expenditure and revenue proposals as part of the annual Budget process;
* Urban Development Committee – to discuss matters of development and planning significance; and
* Security and Emergency Management Committee – to provide strategic direction the ACT Government's preparations for emergencies under an all-hazards planning framework.
Reintroduction of Lapsed Bills
Cabinet agreed to reintroduce a number of Government Bills, previously before the Legislative Assembly, that lapsed at the dissolution of the 7th Assembly. These include:
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Amendment Bill 2012
* Children and young People Amendment Bill 2012
* Crimes Legislation Amendment Bill 2012
* Disability Services Amendment Bill 2012
* Health (National Health Funding Pool and Administration) Bill 2012
* Public Unleased Land Bill
