SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES FOR 1 SEPTEMBER 2015
As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.
Security and Emergency Management Committee of Cabinet
Cabinet Ministers were briefed on security, emergency management and policing priorities in the ACT.
Economic Growth and Urban Renewal Subcommittee of Cabinet
Cabinet Ministers and Executives were briefed on economic growth and urban renewal priorities in the ACT. Issues discussed included improving water quality in priority catchments, a strategic assessment of the Eastern Broadacre area and community housing.
ACT Health response to Auditor-General’s Report No 5 of 2015: Integrity of Data in the Health Directorate
Cabinet endorsed the Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Report No 5 of 2015 on Data Integrity in ACT Health.
Waste Management and Resource Recovery Bill 2015
Cabinet agreed to the preparation of legislation to replace the Waste Minimisation Act 2001 to facilitate more effective management and regulation of waste collection, recovery, recycling and reuse in the ACT. Once legislated, the Bill will have significant positive impacts on the environment by improving the recovery and reuse of waste while discouraging the production of waste and the depositing to landfill of recoverable waste.
Road Transport Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 (No 2)
Cabinet agreed to various amendments being drafted to road transport legislation. These amendments will improve the administration and enforcement of the legislation, thereby improving road safety and supporting the goals of the Digital Canberra Action Plan by assisting government to better engage with citizens and deliver services more efficiently.

Cabinet endorsed the proposed:
- Victims Advisory Board appointments, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety;
- Professional Standards Council appointments, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety;
- ACT Teacher Quality Institute Board appointment, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Education, Training and Youth Affairs; and
- Cultural Facilities Corporation Board appointments, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Education, Training and Youth Affairs.
