SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES FOR WEEK OF 28 SEPTEMBER 2015

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Committees of Cabinet

A Social Inclusion and Equality Subcommittee of Cabinet meeting was convened. Relevant Ministers met with senior government officials to discuss social inclusion matters such as statutory rights protection and the ACT Mature Workforce Strategy.

An Economic Growth and Urban Renewal Subcommittee of Cabinet meeting was convened. Relevant Ministers met with senior government officials to discuss ongoing planning, regulatory reform and clean water strategies for the ACT.

The Capital Metro Subcommittee of Cabinet met to consider updates on the Capital Metro project.

Australia Forum

Cabinet discussed economic and commercial analyses for a proposed Australia Forum.

Taxi Industry Innovation Reforms

Cabinet discussed the Taxi Industry Innovation reforms in relation to the policy and regulatory issues of introducing ridesharing into the ACT.

Revenue Legislation Amendment Bills

Cabinet agreed to the drafting of the Revenue Legislation Amendment Bill 2015.

Review of ACT Energy Industry Levy

Cabinet agreed to perform a review of the Energy Industry Levy (EIL). This proposal aims to support competition within the ACT for energy retailers and distributors.

Courts Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 (No. 2)

Cabinet approved the drafting of a Courts Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 (No. 2) to amend a number of Acts to create further improvements and efficiencies in the ACT court and tribunal structures and process, as well as the operation of the ACT justice and coronial systems.

Justice Legislation Amendment Bill 2015

Cabinet provided policy approval for the Justice Legislation Amendment Bill 2015.

Public Housing Renewal – Six Monthly Report (No. 2)

Cabinet noted the six monthly report on the Public Housing Renewal program. The program aims to improve outcomes for public housing tenants and support the renewal of Canberra’s urban areas by replacing 1288 public housing dwellings over four years to support the redevelopment of 13 Housing ACT multi-unit properties.

  • the Public Trustee Investment Board
  • the ACT Radiation Council
  • the Commissioner for Public Administration.
