You and your installer must submit a notification of installation as soon as possible after installing the radiation source. Your installer can provide you with a copy of this.

X-ray apparatus must comply with mandatory requirements about performance, quality and safety before it can be registered. Health Protection Service can arrange for compliance testing to occur after installation.

Applicants are notified about any issues that arise during this process. Remedial action is required before the registration application can progress.

Submit your notification

To submit your installation notification:

Following an X-ray tube change, a full service report must be submitted to the Health Protection Service. This report must show that equipment has been tested and meets the relevant radiation safety standards and the manufacturer’s specifications.

Once the report has been submitted to the Health Protection Service, the equipment can go back into clinical operation.
