There are safety prerequisites for radiation licences for specific occupations.

These occupations are listed in the table below.

  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety relevant in the type of equipment that will be used.
Industrial radiographers

Industrial radiography sealed source apparatus.

Industrial radiography X-ray unit

  • Training, knowledge and or experience in medical physics (for example: accredited by ACPSEM).
Portable nuclear moisture density gauge operatorsPortable nuclear moisture density gauges
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to portable nuclear moisture/density gauges.
SecuritySecurity detection apparatus
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety.

Service technicians

Service engineers

Radiation sources
  • Must supply evidence of training in servicing of radiation apparatus.
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety.
