Mutual recognition between states or territories for radiation licences
The Mutual Recognition Act 1992 allows a person who is licenced to work in an occupation in one state or territory, to work in a similar occupation in another state or territory.
If you hold a current radiation licence in another state or territory, you may apply for mutual recognition in the ACT.
You can apply for mutual recognition as part of your ACT radiation licence application. Or you may notify for Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) if your home state is participating in the scheme.
Before submitting an ACT radiation licence application, check whether you are eligible to notify under AMR instead.
To apply for a radiation licence through mutual recognition, submit the following information to the Health Protection Service:
- the notice seeking mutual recognition, including a statutory declaration form
- the online form or the radiation licence application form
- all accompanying documents, including copies of your current radiation licence.
Your application can be assessed within 4 weeks. You may work until the application is considered. Standard licensing fees apply.
