The programs build practical skills, deliver nationally recognised units and include work experience on ACT Government projects.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Construction Induction Program

A supported pathway into construction for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What you’ll study

  • Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (CPCWHS1001)
  • Prevent crystalline silica exposure (NAT10830001)
  • Identify and report asbestos containing materials (NAT11084001)
  • Work safely at heights (RIIWHS204E)
  • Operate elevated work platforms up to 11meters (CPCCCM3001)

  • Duration: 4 weeks
  • Days: Tuesday to Thursday
  • Delivery: Classroom, practical training, site visits and employer engagement

Fee-Free Construction Taster Program

Build core skills for entry into the construction industry.

What you’ll study

  • Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (CPCWHS1001)
  • Prevent crystalline silica exposure (NAT10830001)
  • Identify and report asbestos containing materials (NAT11084001)
  • Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (CPCCWHS2001)
  • Carry out measurements and calculations (CPCCOM1015)
  • Undertake a basic construction project (CPCCVE1011)
  • Handle construction materials (CPCCCM2004)

  • Duration: 7 weeks
  • Days: Wednesday to Friday
  • Delivery: Classroom, practical training, site visits and employer engagement
  • Cost: Free

You must meet CIT Fee-Free requirements.
