The Government response to the Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill 2024 will have wellbeing impacts in the Housing and home domain.
Government Submission – Standing Committee on Public Accounts – Inquiry into Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Reports July – December 2023

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government Submission to the Standing Committee on Public Account’s Inquiry into the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Reports July-December 2023 relating to Report No.5 of 2023 into the Activities of the Government Procurement Board.
This submission positively addresses the governance and institutions wellbeing domain.
Specialist Disability Accommodation

Cabinet agreed the Community Service Directorate explore options to determine the ACT Government’s future role in Specialist Disability Accommodation.
The ACT Government is committed to ensuring an equitable, diverse and sustainable supply of housing for the ACT community, including for people with disability. Securing more and better Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) dwellings will ensure eligible NDIS participants who are eligible for SDA have choice and control over their living situations which, in turn, will improve their living standards.
Light Rail Stage 1 – Light Rail Five Years On Report

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Transport deliver a Ministerial Statement in the ACT Legislative Assembly on the review of the benefits of Light Rail Stage 1 following the first five years of operations and publicly release the Five Years On: Benefits Realisation of Light Rail Report.
Five Years On: Benefits Realisation of Light Rail Stage 1 Report 2024 (the ‘Five Years On Report’) outlines the benefits realisation of Light Rail Stage 1 operating between Canberra City and Gungahlin since operations commenced on 20 April 2019. Canberrans have clearly benefitted from the first five years of operations with Canberrans demonstrating a change in the way that they live, travel and interact with our City. Beyond the quantitative measurable benefits that Light Rail has achieved over the last five years, the broader qualitative wellbeing impact of Light Rail Stage 1 can be seen in the lives of Canberrans. Light Rail is not just a commitment to delivering a more sustainable and accessible transport option, but a reflection of who we are as a community: forward focused, innovative, and environmentally conscious.
Crimes (Sentence Administration) Amendment Bill 2024 – Agreement to Introduce

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Corrections and Justice Health introduce the Crimes (Sentence Administration) Amendment Bill 2024 to the ACT Legislative Assembly which will amend criminal justice legislation to improve corrective services processes and operations.
Amendments in this Bill will have impacts on Governance and Institutions, and the Safety wellbeing domains. The reforms will strive to improve efficiencies for corrections administrative processes and in turn support the wellbeing of detainees and the community.
Crimes (Disclosure) Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 – Agreement to Introduce

Cabinet agreed the Attorney-General present the Crimes (Disclosure) Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 to the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The Bill seeks to amend legislation pertaining to disclosure of evidence in criminal proceedings which is anticipated to have positive impacts on criminal proceedings, and thereby on all those involved in such proceedings.
Sexual Assault (Police) Review Final Report

Cabinet agreed to release the Final Report of the Sexual Assault (Police) Review.
The Wellbeing Impact Assessment identified the proposal is likely to have a positive impact in the Safety and Governance and Institutions domains by making recommendations to improve justice responses to sexual violence in ways that centre victim-survivors, which will also support community confidence in the ACT criminal justice system.
Policy Approval – Integrity Commission Amendment Bill 2024 & Government Response – Review of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2012 and Integrity Commission Act 2018

Cabinet agreed the Government Responses to the Report of the review of the Integrity Commission Act 2018 and the Report of the review of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2012, and to develop an Integrity Commission Amendment Bill for introduction in the ACT Legislative Assembly
The proposed reforms aim to improve administrative efficiency and promote the accessibility of mental health and wellbeing assistance under the under the Integrity Commission Act.
Blocks 12 and 13 Section 132 Casey – Future Development
Minute Number: 23/435-2/CAB
Cabinet agreed to reserve Blocks 12 and 13 Section 132 Casey for a health centre, urban open space, indoor sports facility and a combined ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Ambulance Service facility noting that all facilities are subject to further planning and design work and future budget funding.
Reserving land in Casey for community facilities will provide opportunities for the government to consider future project options that will progress the wellbeing domains of safety; health; access and connectivity; identity and belonging; and living standards.
