The new South Tuggeranong Health Centre is on track to open to the public in late 2026.
Construction on the Conder site began in April this year.
The facility is now taking shape with concrete foundations complete and structural framing underway.
This framing will support upcoming works including:
- external cladding
- internal fit-out
- external services installation.
About South Tuggeranong Health Centre
The centre will be on the corner of Box Hill Avenue and Heidelberg Street in Conder.
It will give Tuggeranong residents better access to quality health care, closer to home.
The centre will be a flexible space that can be adapted to suit different services.
It will have 11 consultation rooms and support a range of services including:
- community paediatrics
- pathology collection
- diabetes clinics
- falls and falls injury prevention
- multidisciplinary group exercise and education sessions
- community nursing
- a virtual care interview room.
New health centres across the ACT
The South Tuggeranong Health Centre is one of four new facilities being built to provide more community-based health services.
There are also centres planned for:
- the Inner South
- North Gungahlin
- West Belconnen.
A centre is already open in Coombs, Molonglo.
The health centres will improve local healthcare access for Canberrans.
They will also ease pressure on ACT hospitals, allowing them to provide timely, quality care for people who need it most.
Inner South Health Centre
The Inner South Health Centre is proposed for the corner of Throsby Crescent and Throsby Lane in Griffith. This is next to the Griffith shops.
It will offer:
- oral health care
- pathology collection
- community nursing and allied health
- a rapid access clinic
- chronic disease management.
A Draft Major Plan Amendment has been released for the Inner South Health Centre site.
Public consultation is open until 19 November 2025.
North Gungahlin Health Centre
The North Gungahlin Health Centre will be built on Kingsland Parade in Casey. This is conveniently close to Casey Market Town.
Community consultation in 2024 helped shape the early plans. Design work is underway.
West Belconnen Health Centre
The ACT Government is reviewing possible sites for the West Belconnen Health Centre.
Community consultation will start once a location is chosen.
